NBX installs realistic synthetic turf in Boyne City, MI that eliminates mowing, watering, and brown patches while keeping your lawn looking lush in every season.
Understanding The Service
Why proper base preparation determines how natural your turf will look and feel
Quality artificial turf installation depends far more on what happens beneath the surface than the turf material itself. Our process in Boyne City, MI begins by removing existing grass and topsoil, then excavating to create space for a proper base layer. This step is often skipped by lower-quality installers, but it is essential for preventing the uneven, spongy feel that gives synthetic turf a reputation for looking artificial.
Once excavation is complete, we install a compacted aggregate base that provides stable footing and allows water to drain through rather than pooling on the surface. A weed barrier fabric is placed over this base to prevent unwanted growth from pushing through the turf over time, which is a common complaint with improperly installed systems.
The turf itself is then rolled out, trimmed to fit the exact contours of your yard, and seamed together using techniques that hide the connection points between rolls. We pay close attention to grain direction during installation, since turf laid with mismatched grain directions creates visible seams and an uneven appearance that is immediately noticeable.
Infill material, typically a sand or rubber composite, is brushed into the turf fibers to weigh down the backing, support the blades in an upright position, and provide cushioning underfoot. The final step is a thorough grooming pass that fluffs the fibers and gives the turf a natural, freshly mowed appearance that holds up to regular foot traffic and outdoor furniture.
